Lease- purchase

Use the machine for a set term at a set payment. The purchase at the end is written into the lease before you sign.

How a lease works

Lease payments are not published on this site. Each lease is priced for its machine and term, and every figure is in writing before you sign.

A stone shop's water recycling tank and filter press
A water recycling system with its filter press, often leased with the saws it serves.

Rock Solid, or a partner lender, buys the machine you choose from the seller and leases it to your business for a fixed term, at a fixed payment.

During the lease, the lessor owns the machine and your business uses it. At the end of the term the business buys it, on the terms and at the price the lease sets out from the start, so the last month holds no surprises.

What every lease states in writing

  • The term, and the payment for each month of it.
  • Who owns the machine during the lease, and when title passes to your business.
  • The purchase at the end of the term, and its price.
  • Who insures the machine, and who carries the risk if it is lost or damaged.
  • How sales, use and property taxes are handled.
  • What happens if a payment is late, or the lease ends early.

Lease or finance?

Both put the machine to work now. The difference is who owns it during the term, and what happens at the end.

Which suits a business is a question for its accountant as much as for us; we don’t give tax advice. One application covers both, and you can ask us to price either.

All questions
Can I end a lease early?

The lease says what happens if it ends early, including any amount due. Ask before you sign and we will show you in writing.

Is lease-purchase the same as financing?

No. With financing, the business owns the machine from the start and the lender holds a security interest in it. With lease-purchase, the lessor owns the machine during the lease and the business buys it at the end, as the lease states.

Can I deduct the machine?

Possibly. Section 179 of the tax code lets many businesses deduct the price of qualifying equipment, bought outright or financed, in the year it is placed in service, up to a yearly limit. Whether it applies, and how much, depends on your business, the agreement and the tax year, so ask your tax adviser; we don’t give tax advice.

Do you finance personal purchases?

No. Everything here is for business purposes only: equipment and purchases a business uses to operate. We don't finance personal, family or household purchases.
